A Claude Skill for Pitch Decks Without AI Slop

Prznt Deck is a free Claude skill that turns content or a topic into an editable PowerPoint pitch deck built on a defined design system, without AI slop.

Prznt Deck is a free Claude skill that turns your content, or just a topic, into a fully editable PowerPoint pitch deck built on a defined design system, so the result doesn't look like every other AI-generated presentation. It's open source under the MIT license, and you can download it from GitHub.

Below is why we built it, what's inside, how to install it in Claude Code or claude.ai, and how to run it.

AI Slop Has an Expiration Date. So Should Your Design System.

One of the actually useful things AI does is document and automate expert knowledge. And design knowledge is already highly codified: Google has Material Design, Apple has the Human Interface Guidelines, Microsoft has Fluent, IBM has Carbon. AI tools take the same idea even further: turning those frameworks (grids, typography, spacing, hierarchy and reusable layout patterns) into systems a model can follow automatically.

The catch is that once a good framework becomes widely distributed, its output becomes widely recognizable too. What started as good design becomes the default; the default gets reproduced at enormous scale; and eventually it turns into AI slop. Not necessarily bad design. Just design we've seen so many times that it starts disappearing into the same kind of banner blindness we developed for advertising.

So instead of trying to teach AI all the best practices, we're more interested in teaching it more specific approaches. And then replacing them when they become too common.

That's basically what our new Claude skill does.

What We Put Into the Claude Skill

We took one particular presentation design approach we use at Prznt Perfect and documented it as a system Claude can actually follow.

The boring, important layer underneath:

  • a 12-column grid
  • typography hierarchy
  • spacing rules
  • content density rules
  • a limited set of slide structures
  • rules for tables and charts
  • rules for how repeated content should behave
  • and a surprisingly long list of things not to do

No random pills, no shadows, no unnecessary rounded cards, no tiny labels floating above every headline, no reinventing the visual language on every slide. The idea is to give AI fewer design decisions to improvise, and a stronger professional backbone to work inside.

Here's how that shows up in the files you download:

Part of the skillWhat it does
SKILL.mdThe workflow Claude follows, the design rules and the catalog of 15 slide templates
references/Design tokens, the full design rules and the anatomy of each template
scripts/przntperfect/The generation engine, built on python-pptx, that places every shape on the grid
scripts/inspect_pptx.pyA self-check linter that validates fonts, sizes, colors and structure before the deck is handed back
scripts/build_canonical.pyRebuilds the reference deck showing all 15 templates

What You Get: an Editable PowerPoint

The output is a native .pptx you can open and edit in PowerPoint, not a flattened image or a locked web presentation.

  • Native, editable slides. Every text box, shape and table is a real PowerPoint object.
  • 15 grid-based templates. Cover, agenda, section statements, text and image, cards, bar charts with data tables, data tables and side-table layouts.
  • Charts built as shapes and tables as native tables, so both stay accurate and editable.
  • On-brand by construction. Colors, type and spacing come from design tokens, and the brand palette appears in PowerPoint's color picker.
  • A checked result. Every generated deck runs through the linter before delivery.

How to Install the Prznt Deck Claude Skill

You can use the skill in Claude Code or in claude.ai. It needs Python 3.9 or newer; the python-pptx library installs itself the first time it runs.

Where you use ClaudeHow to install
Claude Code (terminal, VS Code or desktop app)Put the prznt-deck folder into ~/.claude/skills/, then restart your session. /prznt-deck appears in autocomplete.
claude.ai (web or app)Download the repository as a ZIP from GitHub, then upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

For Claude Code, the fastest route is to clone the repository straight into your skills folder:

git clone https://github.com/przntperfect/prznt-deck ~/.claude/skills/prznt-deck

If you'd rather not use git, open the GitHub repository, choose Code → Download ZIP, unzip it and copy the folder to ~/.claude/skills/prznt-deck.

How to Use It

Run:

/prznt-deck

Or add a topic straight away, for example /prznt-deck pitch for [your product].

Claude then asks two short questions: whether you have ready content, and whether you have a logo to add. The logo goes in the top-right corner of every slide, or your company name if you don't have one.

If you already have the content, it analyzes it, structures the narrative and proposes the deck before generating anything. If you only have the topic, it can help develop the content first, using placeholder data you'll replace before real use.

Once the structure is approved, it generates the .pptx using the design system. After that you can edit by chatting, like "swap slide 5 for a table" or "add a competition slide".

So you will get:

content → structure → defined design system → editable presentation

And Yes, This Approach Will Probably Become Outdated Too

That's kinda the point.

Right now, this particular visual language still feels relatively fresh because it isn't the default language every AI presentation tool is producing.

Use it while that's true.

And when enough people start using the same approach and it crosses the line into AI slop too, we'll document another one and give you the update.

AI can automate expert knowledge. But expert knowledge shouldn't become static just because we've managed to automate it.

When to Use the Skill and When to Bring In a Designer

The skill is great for internal decks, early fundraising drafts, investor updates and any presentation where a clean, consistent structure matters more than a custom visual identity. It gives you a professional backbone in minutes instead of days.

A skill can't replace the judgement that goes into a high-stakes raise, though: deciding which single claim your deck has to prove, or explaining a technical advantage to investors who aren't engineers. If you're weighing the options, our breakdown of what pitch deck design costs compares AI tools, freelancers and agencies, and our guide to making financial presentations exciting covers the narrative side. For deep tech companies specifically, see deep tech presentations.

If you've been getting ChatGPT to help with slides, our earlier post on training ChatGPT to design PowerPoint shows why a defined system produces better results than open-ended prompting.

FAQ

What is a Claude skill?

A Claude skill is a packaged set of instructions, reference files and scripts that Claude loads when a task calls for it. Prznt Deck packages a presentation design system and a PowerPoint generation engine, so Claude builds decks to the same rules every time instead of improvising a new style.

Is the Prznt Deck skill free?

Yes. It's open source under the MIT license, and you can download it from GitHub and use it for your own presentations.

Does it create editable PowerPoint files?

Yes. It produces a native .pptx file where text, shapes, charts and tables are all editable PowerPoint objects, not images.

Do I need content before I start?

No. If you have content, Claude structures it into a deck. If you only have a topic, it drafts a plausible narrative with placeholder data that you replace before using the deck for real.

Can I use it in claude.ai as well as Claude Code?

Yes. In Claude Code, place the folder in your skills directory and run /prznt-deck. In claude.ai, upload the skill as a ZIP under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

Why won't the decks look AI-generated?

The skill follows one specific, documented design approach with a 12-column grid, fixed typography and spacing rules, a limited set of slide structures and a list of patterns to avoid. That gives Claude far fewer visual decisions to improvise, which is what usually makes AI decks look alike.

Download the skill from GitHub, run /prznt-deck and tell us what you build. If you'd rather start from a template than a skill, our minimal PowerPoint template uses the same thinking. And when the deck has to carry a real raise, Prznt Perfect's presentation design services are there for the parts a skill shouldn't do on its own.
